Getting dirty...or not.
I really had no idea what to really call this post.
I was reading The Archdruids Report, a blog I follow, and it mentions how ineffiecent our sewage system here in teh US really is.
Using clean, drinkable water to flush waste away has never made sense to me but considering that I live in a society that doesn't make much sense in general...it make perfect sense to go along with the madness. Its best to just go with the flow, because were all mad here.
California especially is a little more mad than most, at least in my opinion.
Just recently a neighbor lost his job because he lacked the correct 'credentials' for his job, when he had been doing the job very well for the last 20 some odd years.
They gave him his job back a few weeks later, only after finding out that he credentials mean squat compared to experience.
That just goes to show how crazy Californians can get. Maybe thats why the French like us so much, that and we both have pretty good tastes in wine.
Back to the dirty stuff, I really have thought it was pretty stupid to waste water like we do but as a college student living at home I really couldn't think of anything to do about it beyond no flushing the toilet in protest, which really doesn't work out as well as you might think.
Especially if you have an eleven year old niece who decides it might be fun to stick a whole roll of toilet paper down there. Not fun and certainly disgusting to clean up.
Alternatives such as a compostible toilet just won't work in my situation, so what should I do instead?
I really have no clue.
There seems to be alot of bad press about what we do with our water but not alot of easy solutions that a person like me can bank on.
That tends to be the rule of thumb when your dealing with public issues, its easier to talk about grand schemes to solve the problem rather than think of cost effective ways to get rid of the problem.
Norway has found an interesting solution to our problem and while it isn't a complete overhaul of the water waste system it does seem to remove the problem that fossil fuels generate : Co2 emmisions.
