A case of mistaken identity....I think....?
Well, I am slightly put off that I am not quite sure if the tree I found really is a birch tree.
I need to go back an take a better picture of the tree itself and the leaves put I am somewhat sure that what I thought to be a birch was in fact only a similar breed.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel though.
Another tree nearby is more likely to be the correct species.
I'm still not sure but I'm checking it out tomorrow.
I still have tons of time to figure this out but its still a little frustrating.
I still need to get some of my Tools or Weapons together.
There are four personal Weapons all together: tthe Stone,the Wand, the Knife and the Chalice(Cup)
The Stone is a representation of the world and is the first of the four that I am to 'find'. By find I mean literally. I need to find a stone that meets some requirements. It should be 6'' circumfrance but still easy to carry and flat enough to put your feet on during OtherWorld Journeys. The best places to look for your stone, and any of your Weapons, are the inbetween places. In the Stones case either at a beach or riverside, at Sunset or Sunrise and at Beltaine or Samhaine. It is ideal but not required.
The Wand is a 6-8'' long straight piece of wood that has been made out of yew, ash or hazel wood. You may carve into it as well but Blamire recommends that the symbols keep to the Celtic Theme because of the magic that will be used. It makes sense to me not to mix and match different magic types.
The third Weapon is Knife. Its a short double sided dagger that will be used in the rituals. A usable knife is better than a dull representation. It needs to cut things, end of story. It is also reccomended that a new knife or a virgin one be bought, because you really should be aware of what your knife has been used as so it does not conflict or hinder what your using it for now. The traditional way to receive your knife was through defeating someone in combat but thats really not applicable now a days, and Blamire assures me that buying a knife with hard earned is a applicable substitute.
The last personal Weapon that you have is the Chalice. This traditionally was given to the Druid out of love, but buying it is justified by saying that you gave of yourself to earn the money to buy it. It should be either silver or silver plated. This makes it kind of expensive in my opinion but...what can ya do? Maybe that's why it was usually a gift...but I digress.
Just finding the Weapons is a test of your sincerity, which I can see just by the way Blamire words how they are found. You look for them one at a time starting with the Stone, but you look for them as if they are things that you already own and have only mislaid them for a time. This is supposed to give your emotional and spiritual connection more strength. I'll give it a whirl. Intuitively you will know when you have the correct Weaponry and then your ready to consecrate them.
I'll describe the consecration when I actually get to it...which will be awhile.
I actually did talk with my tree today, even if it was the wrong one. It really wasn't a conversation but just me talking and reading my book nearby. I'm going back over tomorrow to take some pictures to make sure I have the correct type of tree but I think that I'll still come back and talk to the tree in the mornings. I didn't realize how great talking to even a silent partner was.
